Commercial Fencing for Sherwood Businesses
Yard perimeters, drive gates sized for the equipment that actually has to come through them, and access control worked out before the concrete goes in. Delta Fence builds commercial fence for Sherwood contractor yards, storage facilities, apartment property, and schools, and we phase it so the property keeps running while we work.
What a Commercial Fence Has to Survive Up Here
Sherwood sits between North Little Rock and Jacksonville, and the fence work reflects that mix. Highway 107 and Kiehl Avenue carry retail and service businesses with parking to define and dumpsters to screen. Toward the North Little Rock line there are contractor yards, equipment lots, and light industrial buildings. Add self-storage, apartment property, churches, ball fields, schools, and utility sites, and you get a list of commercial jobs that have almost nothing in common from one property to the next. What they do share is that the fence is working every day, and nobody on site is being gentle with it.
The real difference between a residential fence and a commercial one is not height, it is what the fence is built out of. Commercial chain link uses heavier gauge fabric and a larger frame diameter on line posts, terminal posts, and top rail. Footings go deeper and wider. Corners and gate posts get braced instead of just ending. That sounds like small stuff until a driver backs a trailer into a corner at your yard. A residential-weight post folds and takes the fabric with it, and now you have an open perimeter on a Friday night. A commercial post takes the hit and stays in the hole. We spec to the abuse the property will actually see, and you know exactly what is going in the ground before we start.
The Kinds of Sherwood Property We Fence
Contractor and Equipment Yards
The opening matters more than the run. We size the gate to the biggest thing that has to clear it, usually a lowboy or a rollback, and hang it so it still swings true after a hard winter and a few thousand cycles.
Self-Storage and Access
The operator and the fence get specified together. Opening width, post size, and operator mount all depend on each other, so we settle them in one conversation instead of three and one change order.
Schools, Churches, Ball Fields
Sightlines and controlled entry instead of concealment. Staff need to see across the property, parents need one obvious way in, and the fence has to hold up to kids climbing on it.
Galvanized, Black Vinyl-Coated, and the Gate That Has to Match
Galvanized commercial chain link is the default on a yard, a utility site, or anywhere the fence is there to work and nobody expects it to be pretty. It is tough, it takes a repair well, and a damaged section can be swapped without matching a finish. Black vinyl-coated is the same commercial frame with a bonded coating over the fabric, and it belongs where the fence faces a street or a residential neighbor. Against a treeline the black mesh mostly disappears, which is why it goes up around apartment property, church parking, and the retail sites off Kiehl. The coating buys some corrosion protection on the fabric too. It costs more per foot than galvanized, so on plenty of Sherwood sites we run black where the public sees it and galvanized around the back.
Gates are where commercial fences fail, and they fail because somebody picked the fence first and the gate second. A cantilever slide gate needs room to roll back behind the opening. A double swing gate needs somewhere for both leaves to sit open without eating a drive lane. An operator has to match the gate weight and the daily cycle count, and the post gets sized for the operator rather than the other way around. We work all of that out at the walk-through, with your access control vendor on the phone if you already have one, so the concrete gets poured once and the opening works on day one.
Working Across Sherwood and North Pulaski County
Delta Fence LLC covers Sherwood and the property around it, from the North Little Rock line up toward Jacksonville, including the suppliers and trade contractors that work off the traffic around the air base. If you manage more than one location in north Pulaski County, you can put all of them under one crew and one phone number instead of chasing three contractors for three fences. Recent work is in the fence gallery, and the rest of what we build here is on the Sherwood service page.
Keeping the Yard Secure While the Fence Goes Up
Most commercial jobs happen at a business that cannot close for a week. A storage facility still has tenants pulling in. A contractor yard has to be locked at dark whether or not the fence is finished. We phase around that. Old fence comes down a run at a time instead of all at once, posts get set and left to cure while the existing perimeter is still standing, and we hang a temporary closure or leave a section of the old fence across any opening that would otherwise sit open overnight. At apartment property we schedule around residents, keep the parking they need available, and give the office a run order they can post so nobody comes home to a blocked space and a phone call to make.
When a general contractor is running the site, we work to their schedule. That usually means we are not first. Grading has to be finished, underground has to be marked and located, and curb and paving decide where a line actually falls. We would rather sit out a week than set posts that have to come back out. Tell us who to talk to and where fence lands on the schedule, and we show up ready when the site is ready. If it slips, we want the call early. Whatever the city of Sherwood or Pulaski County wants to see for your particular lot is worth asking them about before we mobilize, and the property owner is the one who decides what the fence has to do.
Questions We Get From Sherwood Businesses
What actually makes a fence commercial instead of residential?
Heavier gauge fabric, a larger frame diameter on posts and rail, deeper and wider footings, and bracing at corners and gates. It is the same shape as a residential fence and a different animal in the ground. We tell you the gauge and post size we are quoting so you can compare it to anything else you are looking at.
Can you build a gate wide enough for a lowboy or a rollback?
Yes. We size the opening to the largest piece of equipment that has to clear it, plus room for the swing of the trailer, then decide between a cantilever slide and a double swing based on the space you have. A slide needs runback room behind the opening. A swing needs somewhere for the leaves to park without blocking a lane.
Do the fence and the gate operator get specified together?
They should. Opening width sets the gate, gate weight and cycle count set the operator, and the operator sets the post and the pad. Picking one before the other is how a job ends up with concrete in the wrong place. If you have an access control vendor already, we would rather talk to them during the walk-through than after.
Galvanized or black vinyl-coated for a commercial site?
Galvanized on yards, utility sites, and anywhere out of public view. Black vinyl-coated where the fence faces a street, a neighborhood, or a leasing office, because it reads much softer against trees. Plenty of Sherwood properties get both, black across the front and galvanized around the back.
Can you work around residents at an apartment property?
Yes, and it is worth planning. We take the perimeter in runs, keep needed parking open, and give the office a schedule they can post so residents know what is closed and when. Nothing is left open overnight that was secure the night before.
Will you coordinate with our general contractor?
That is most of our commercial work. Give us the site schedule and a contact, and we slot in after grading, locates, and paving so the line falls where the finished site says it should. We will hold rather than set posts that have to come out later.
